Frikkie Botha sold his first vehicle in 1982, a 1976 Volkswagen Passat. Shortly after that, in 1983, a dream was realized when Frikkie and a business partner opened Botha and Deysel Motors on Telford Street in Vereeniging. In 1984 they moved to the current site on Rhodes Avenue in Vereeniging.
Family has always been Frikkie’s number one priority. In 2011 his sons joined him, and they started a new division, Botha and Deysel Executive Motors, family-owned and family-run.
Awards During the Years
• Businessman of the year in 1988. At the time Frikkie was the youngest businessman to receive the award.
• ABSA award for the Top Second-Hand Dealer for 35 years (1988 – 2023) of which the last 13 years as Botha & Deysel Executive Motors.
• The PMR Platinum Arrow award from the Sedibeng District Survey for the best motor dealer in the district for 10 years (2011 – 2013, 2015, 2018 – 2023).
• Third place in the Old Mutual and Rapport business awards for the best business in South Africa during 2004.
• Botha & Deysel Executive has been selected to receive the International Quality Crown (IQC) Award in the Gold category at the International BID Quality Convention 2016. The decision to present this award is the result of research and analysis carried out through Quality Hunters, leaders, entrepreneurs, and experts in quality, directed by Business Initiative Directions (BID), to recognize the contribution of Botha and Deysel Executive in terms of Leadership, Quality, Innovation and Excellence.
• In 2022 Armand Botha & Ruan Botha was to date the youngest to receive the ABSA Golden Partner Award
